Whitstable musician Em Peasgood is setting up a new choir which she describes as 'totally modern'.

Em is well-known in local venues as a blues, soul and jazz performer particularly with Emily and the Beats, as well as earning a crust as a music teacher.

There is no formal audition for the new choir, no need to read music - and no charge for the first session. Future weekly rehearsals will cost £9, but this includes tuition in technique, performance skills, confidence and breathing.

Em says the choir will perform up-beat, feel-good pop, rock and soul music with a gospel feel but there will be no religious repertoire.

If you want to know more, contact em@empeasgood.com, look at her website www.empeasgood.com or phone 01227 282556/ 07749 115484.

  • No previous experience required - you should be 16-plus.
  • First get-together Wednesday 7th September, 7.30-9.30pm, St Andrew's Church, Grimshill Road. Future rehearsals every Wednesday.
  • Good senses of rhythm and pitch useful!
