Jubilee in Whitstable update

The climax of Diamond Jubilee celebrations in Whitstable will undoubtedly be the lighting of the beacon on Tankerton Slopes at around 10.15pm on Monday 4th June - as just one link in a fiery chain of more than 4,000 around the country.

The beacon at Tankerton Slopes will be lit for the Diamond Jubilee.
HM the Queen will light the final beacon in The Mall, London, at 10.30pm.
If you want to get to the Slopes earlier in the day, there'll be a programme of entertainment, music and displays as well as stalls from 2.30pm. Whitstable Sea Cadets will ceremonially lower a flag at sunset, around 9pm.
By just nipping across the road to Whitstable Castle, you can take a royal high tea with our own queen (of the carnival) at both 12 noon and 3pm.
Of course, it's a four-day bank holiday weekend and the jubilee fun is being spread out.
At the castle, teddies have their own opportunity for a right royal picnic on the Saturday, 2-4pm. Dress your ted as if he/she were going to a Royal Garden Party!
And on Saturday evening, queen it at the Horsebridge Centre with your knowledge of the monarchy in the jubilee quiz (one table left as of today).
Other events happening over the jubilee weekend:
- Jubilee Jumble at the Horsebridge, Sunday June 3rd, 10am-1.30pm
- Flower festival, St Alphege Church, High Street, 2nd-5th June
