There is just one week left to apply for a road closure notice to hold a street party in Whitstable for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee.
The Queen, celebrating 60 years.
A street party in Middle Wall, Whitstable, for the Royal Wedding last year.
The deadline for applications to Kent County Council is Friday 18th May, and you can use this online application form.
You can ask for a 'road closure' on any of the four days of the Jubilee bank holiday weekend (Saturday 2nd-Tuesday 5th June) and there is no charge. KCC will supply Road Closed signs free.
So far, the KCC has received street party applications for 18 roads in Canterbury district out of a total of 144. There were 182 Kentish street parties for the Royal Wedding last year.
There's a dedicated website on holding street parties called the street party site which offers ideas and information, for example advice on insurance.
The beacon on Tankerton Slopes will be lit on Monday 4th June and did you know, Kent will be the brightest county in the UK as more beacons are to be lit here than anywhere else!
Here at whitstable people we're compiling a list of jubilee events in Whitstable as we hear about them, and hope you will help add to it. We're also running a jubilee poll across all the local people websites to find out how people will be using this bumper bank holiday - please join in.
Here are the Whitstable events we know about so far:
- Saturday 2nd June - jubilee quiz at Horsebridge Centre, 7.30pm
- Monday 4th June - lighting of the beacon on Tankerton Slopes around 10.15pm

- ?? Can you add to the list?
