Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast for Kent tonight, with the Met Office issuing a severe weather warning for the whole of the south-east.
In the light of this, Whitstable Yacht Club is urging the owners of dinghies and catamarans parked on the beach to ensure they are securely tied down.
Kent Highways warns of 80mph winds and says to make only essential journeys tonight.
Blustery conditions are set to continue for the rest of the week, with a brief sunny respite on Thursday.
At the moment, longer-range forecasts predict dry and clear weather for Christmas in the south-east.
Comments
Several reports of fallen trees blocking Kent roads this morning, but our little corner of the county seems relatively unscathed according to Kent Highways.
At home, one patio tree and one garden chair blew over in the night! Even stronger winds forecast later in the week, though.
