Pizza Express in Whitstable has now got it's sign up and lit - meaning it can't be long until it opens.

Pizza Express' lit up sign in Whitstable on Saturday night (28th January 2012)
Also, I see they are advertising some jobs still on their website.
Bring on the offers...

I do know all this, I occasionally worked there when it was Pollett & Cole, an advertising and PR company and before that it was a cleaning supplies warehouse.
I just think the neon sign brash and out of keeping with the area and really would prefer not have any more multinational chains in town - we have enough with the two other "italian" places and costapacket and cannot really see myself enjoying a Pizza Express meal.

ReportThat building has been many things over the years from part of the funeral companys to a printers, food packing company et al. I think it's looking better than it's ever did. My concern is with the planning permission for the apartment that is not in keeping with Albert st at all ( docklands maybe?) As for the sign, i don't believe it will have an impact on anybody's front room at that end of Albert st. Just enjoy the fact of another company spending in Whitstable and the jobs it has generated plus the use of an exsisting building (and don't forget the original planning permission granted by Canterbury City Council was for a live music late night venue)

Reportmitziebitz, please see my earlier comment concerning the buildings previous state and i believe its a lot better now. Not 100% sure about the 'penthouse apartment for sale at 395,000' but thats another issue.

ReportThat hideous neon sign will certainly add nothing to the area - how on earth did they get permission for it? Feel sorry for people who live in Albert Street including my friends, who are too old to jump over walls although they might if they could!
