Writer tells of smiling Whitstable folk

'Lovely, even with a slightly mucky-looking beach' - that was the verdict of a writer for Woman & Home magazine who visited Whitstable last week.

The magazine's food blogger tells how she found herself in the town during Oyster Festival week, with everyone in a good mood and "actually smiling as they went about their days".

She goes on: "But then, when you live by the sea, eat a lot of shellfish and pubs play live jazz in the afternoons, I see no reason to be miserable."
