No action is required of Whitstable Yacht Club following the inquest into the tragic death at sea of a visitor last summer.

Luca Marchesin drowned after the dinghy he was sailing in with a club member capsized off Whitstable.

Club commodore David Lowes attended the inquest held in Canterbury last week, when the coroner found that the death was accidental.

In a report to members on the coroner's conclusions, Mr Lowes tells members that the club's safety procedures are adequate and no action is required.

Mr Lowes continues: "We should however listen to the advice of the RYA and the Marine Accident Investigation Board and continue to promote safety on the water and to educate our members in how to stay safe at sea.

"We should never forget the tragic outcome of this accident, which happened on a perfect summer sailing day, and we should spare a thought for Mr Marchesin's family."
