  • Firefighters tackle Whitstable car fire

    FIREFIGHTERS have been called out to a car which had caught alight in Whitstable. Two fire engines were sent to the scene in Chestfield at 4.40am yesterday morning. Crews spent just under an hour tackling the fire and making the area safe. No one was reported injured in the incident.

    Police are looking for a white van involved in the theft of a cash machine containing thousands of pounds from the forecourt of a Whitstable petrol station.     Police are looking for witnesses following a report of an assault in Nelson Road last Friday night (2nd March). A 43-year-old Whitstable man told them he was walking with a friend when approached by a group of young people - three or four young men and a female - who punched and kicked him as he fell over.     A Whitstable pensioner was robbed of several hundreds of pounds plus her pension book, police have disclosed. The incident happened in Harbour Street back on Monday 30th January, but an appeal for help along with a CCTV image have just been released by the police.
