What the hell is going on at Pearsons? Don't think I've seen so many poor reviews for one place in such a short space of time. Maybe people are getting on the bandwagon a bit buy maybe just maybe Richard Philips needs to get his house in order? I've not eaten in there so cannot comment BUT the service in the bar isn't that great. Looks like chaos reigns....

I don't think its a question of 'getting on the bandwagon'...why would it be? People go for a meal for a treat and pay good money...money which they've earned and if its rubbish...why shouldn't they have their say. Who wants to go for a meal and not enjoy it...it doesn't make sense does it? Having a drink in the bar is one thing...being stung with a bill over £90 for poor food and bad service is another!

It seems that several people have been disappointed. It's probably about time for Pearson's to respond to the criticism and tell us if, for example, they have temporary problems and what they are going to do about it. Customers have a right to expect value for money, and Pearson's needs to consider its reputation.

I have sent a long and detailed email to Richard Phillips via another of his restaurants but he is currently out of the country. I have been promised a response on his return.

I have to say I recently went to one of Richards resturants at the Chapel Down Vineyard and both the food and service was excellent, a lovely free starter of homemade soda bread with a green olive tapenade and handmade chocolates presented with the bill, wonderful!

Anyone been to the Pearson's recently? Taking a friend out for a 'cheer up' lunch and want it to be good. Thinking of this because it is easily walkable for both of us and I used to love it in the days when Ted ruled the kitchen - salmon and chips - happyt days.

Recommened the Peasons to another poster on a foodie board I belong to elsewhere. They asked for recommendations for places to eat in the area. Listed all the usual suspects in Whitstable. They went to Peasons and posted this:

"Pearson's at Sunday lunchtime, was indeed amazing food & value. Wish we'd had room for more than one course! I think we were very lucky to get in. I had roast beef & my husband had the fish & chips. Gorgeous homemade bread too. Great service & atmosphere."
