Make a pebble for harbour project

In case you didn't catch it last time, there is another opportunity to make and decorate a pebble for the 'Dead Man's Corner' project at Whitstable Harbour.
-
Some of the pebbles made at the last workshop for the harbour project.
There will be a workshop next Thursday, December 2nd, from 3-7pm in the Old Stables at the Duke of Cumberland pub on the corner of High Street/Harbour Street.
The finished pebbles will be incorporated into a gabion wall (wire mesh cages) which will form part of the new seating and peformance area being constructed by Whitstable Improvement Trust.
A similar workshop in October was highly successful, but more pebbles are needed to create a decorative band along the wall. You can read more about the project, and see a plan, in our earlier story.
It's a great way for local people to actually make a contribution. There will be another, different opportunity soon when the WIT will be collecting flotsam and jetsam to help fill the gabion cages with material with a tideline theme.
- Next Thursday's workshop coincides with the Christmas shopping and lights switch-on around the corner in Harbour Street - why not do both?
Comments
Was a very popular event last time but still plenty of space for more pebbles as part of the project. Will be great to see a community area with parts made by a wide range of people as part of it.
