Nowhere better than Ambrose Jones

We've been bringing our dog to Jo and her team for 4 years now after he had a very bad experience with another local groomer. Quite simply, there is nowhere better around. The new premises are fantastic, with larger shop and café for both owners and pets. I can't recommend it any more highly than saying if you go there and have a bad experience or you aren't happy then I will personally pay you back myself. Safest bet in the world, let me tell you! The care for - and love of - all the dogs they groom is evident for all to see, all the dogs and their owners are remembered by everyone too, even if they're just popping in......which says it all. If there were 6 stars on here then Ambrose Jones would be getting 6. Sadly, you can only give 5.

Our dog groomers’ emporium is conveniently located in Tankerton-On-Sea in Whitstable, opposite Tesco Metro and there is ample Free parking right outside the shop. We aim to offer the complete dog grooming service and have people come to us from all over Kent, Surrey & Sussex.

We also offer a loyalty card to all of our customers; print it off from the ‘Useful Information’ on this page or enquire in store for more details. For every groom your dog has, you redeem a stamp, and after you have filled the loyalty card, we give you £20 to use in store on any grooming service, or item from our boutique.

    Thoroughly recommended for dogs and owners

       

    We took Meg, our two year old miniature labradoodle, to Ambrose Jones today for the first time. We were really impressed with how she was looked after when she was with the team, her appearance afterwards and the great service. I'd thoroughly recommend Ambrose Jones for your dog - just make sure you book in early as they're very popular - and quite rightly so. It's good to be able to feel comfortable leaving your dog with people that obviously care a lot and love dogs.

    Outstanding Service!

       

    Thank you so much to the whole team at Ambrose Jones! I recently rescued a dog from a very unfortuante home! She was smelly, extremely matted and very timid. Ambrose Jones fitted her in the same day (even though they were very busy) and were amazing with her! She came away looking (and smelling) like a different dog! I would recommend them to anyone! My daughter is the manager of Jenkins Canine Services (Dog Trainer and Behaviourist) and she professionally recommends them also! Thank you Jo and your wonderful team. Mrs Jenkins

    Neil loves Ambrose Jones!

       

    I brought my puppy here after seeing the endless list of 5* reviews on Whitstable People. My springer spaniel / staffie cross breed was in need of a little manicure so I brought him here. Jo and Dean were very calming and reassuring Neil as it was his first time having his nails clipped. I was very pleased with how quick and efficient the staff were and how friendly the whole salon is. The fact they have a huge open window where everyone can see in is testament to their fantastic dog groomers! I bought Neil some "doggy popcorn" too - liver flavour! He can't get enough. At Jo and Dean's advice, I took the label off and left it on the side and my partner ended up trying some too!! haha.

    Overall, a great groomers with lots of doggy treats. and not forgetting the K9 coffee shop next door or the lovely walk along the beach!

    Ambrose Jones - simply the best!

       

    I had a poodle as a child which was clipped by a vets in London and was cut so badly his personality completely changed for the rest of his life, so, I was very nervous when I took my Yorkipoo Jasper for the first time. Jo and her team, especially Casey, couldn't have been more helpful, kind and caring of him! They were and are completely happy for me to stay with Jasper the whole time, though I could easily have a coffee next door in 'Woofs' while I wait! Jasper is very relaxed, happy and the whole experience for both of us is a real pleasure. I couldn't imagine taking him anywhere else, and would recommend Ambrose Jones wholeheartedly for a thoroughly friendly, caring and professional experience.

    HIGHLY RECOMMEND

       

    We have been taking our cross Toy poodle dog Ruby to Jo's since she was a pup and with her thick/fluffy/curly hair it can be a nightmare to manage but they groom her perfectly!!! She is always made a complete fuss of which Ruby absolutely loves!!!! The staff are so friendly and caring and you feel completely comfortable about leaving your precious dog in their capable hands. I can not recommend enough - this is not our local groomers but would not even consider taking Ruby anywhere other than here. Ruby is booked in for this Saturday and we even look forward to bringing her as they always do a fabulous job and are the most welcoming that they could be.. The cafe is brilliant especially as you can take your dogs in with you or just wait whilst your dog is being groomed. Location is perfect and brilliant in the summer we always go for walks along the beach. BEST groomers!

    Bellisimo!

       

    My bearded collie, Bella, was a bit of tangled mess when she arrived at Ambrose Jones but Jo and her team took her under their wing and gave a beautiful beardie makeover. We'd had a bad experience with another groomer who had found it easiest to clip her rather than combing her, which was a bit of shock to her and us! As her hair grew longer (and thicker because of the clipping), I was wary of pulling too hard when she got tangled and she'd got a bit tatty. Jo encouraged me to join in with the grooming so that I could learn how to comb her thoroughly but without hurting her. It was a great experience for both of us, and Bella has been proudly showing off her her flowing locks ever since. She's also become addicted to the fantastic Lilley's dog food that they sell - and the plaited rawhide chews. This is just the most brilliant place and the people are wonderful. Bella is completely at home there, after her groom she just trotted off and made herself at home on the sofa with her new chew! I can't thank them enough or recommend them highly enough.

    I've been taking my Bichon Daisy to Ambrose Jones for nearly a year now, and I can't speak highly enough about the care and treatment she gets.
    Daisy loves being able to watch the world go by through the huge front window, while she's being pampered and I love that everything is done in full view. The staff are all so calm and caring and Daisy is so much more relaxed here. The fantastic new premises and cafe make the whole experience even better and I can buy all her food and accessories at the same time.
    There is a lovely range of greeting cards and gifts all with a doggie theme and the cafe is great to pop into after a nice walk on the beach or while your dog is being groomed.
    Jo and Dean and the staff are all so helpful and are always happy to give advice. Thank you for making Daisy so beautiful!

    Dogtastic!!!!

       

    This is a wonderful place...an imaginative and creative venture. Dogs and owners both love it. It not only caters for every dog need you can think of from chews, to green foods, to toys, coats, leads, collars...the lot...(and promises of more dog orientated things to come) its wonderful. The great thing about Ambrose Jones is the fact that your dog can be seen being happily groomed by the most caring and skilled staff...whilst you can sneak off next door and have a great nosh in Woofs cafe. It does a great breakfast, tasty cakes and delicious sandwiches etc and you can take your dog in with you. Its such a friendly place that if you don't have a dog you'll wish you had. I wish I could award it more stars like one of the reviewers before me but I can't so five will have to do. Ambrose Jones has a great atmosphere and I travel quite a long way to take my dog there...I wouldn't go anywhere else...Dogtastic!!!!

    Ambrose Jones - What can I say my 9 year old Bedlington Toby does not enjoy being clean, so it is not his favourite place to visit every 9 weeks. Jo and her team are exactly what all the other reviews say, kind, caring, and good at her job. I also come from London and the coffee shop is a big plus. Well done.

    My Daschund George has been visiting Jo for a few years now and always thoroughly enjoys this luxury! The staff are very professional, friendly and helpful. The new premises is gr8 and the addition of the dog friendly cafe is superb with terrific jacket potatoes! Cant rate them highly enough, so next time your in Tankerton, check them out with or without your four legged friends. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED x
