Pity about a couple of recent reviews - we've always recommended Birdies to our guests because it is consistent and reliable. Good atmosphere - and they are always happy to take large group bookings (which some restaurants are not). Our most recent visit was December for our grandson's 18th and everyone enjoyed themselves.

Wish I'd gone somewhere else.
We went here the other weekend and after years of recommending the restaurant to friends and visitors we had a really bad experience. The food was served on cold plates and therefore was not hot, and the meat was not very good (had Steaks and Beef Wellington). When this was mentioned to the waitress and again to another whilst paying the bill there was no reaction and no follow up. I wonder if the restaurant has changed hands as I have since spoken to other people who have had bad experiences lately.

Great steak and perfect pud
We went to Birdies for the first time as a foursome for a birthday celebration. I liked the bistro atmosphere (reminded me of the 1970s) but the food was bang up to date. My son's rare steak was cooked well (always a good sign, he said happily) and the fish dishes were delicious. Lovely gudgy chocolate and almond pudding! I'm sure we will go to Birdies again.

Could do better
We went here to celebrate my girlfriends 30th birthday and it was only average at best. Slow and inefficient service and the food was only average. Wasn't even that cheap!! Would have thought a restaurant that had been around for this long would know better.
