If you're driving to or from Canterbury at night in February, you'll need to avoid the usual route.
-
The road to Canterbury will be closed at night for most of February.
-
The closure order for road resurfacing lasts for 20 nights.
The A290 Whitstable-Canterbury road over The Blean will be shut for three weeks between 8pm and 5am, starting next Monday 31st January, while the KCC Highways Service resurfaces the road.
Notices have been posted advising drivers to use the Thanet Way and A2 instead.
Different sections of the A290 between the Long Reach roundabout and the junction with Tyler Hill will be closed at various times as the roadworks progresses, so if you are visiting homes or businesses on the route you should look out for detailed notices which will be posted along the road.

ReportDoes anybody know what impact the diversion is having on the busfrom Canterbury. Owing to the diversion, what is normally a 7 mile journey becomes a 14 mile one. Google Maps http://tinyurl.com/69j4bwn says it will now take 23 mins instead of 18... Should I believe it?
