Friday snow update

Day two of our big snow and all schools in Whitstable appear to be shut today, as well as Herne Bay, Canterbury and Faversham. Check here for your school.

There are some limited train services in Kent - check rail travel here before setting out.

On the roads, Kent Police warn that ice and freezing fog make driving very hazardous. This morning, the M2 seems to have particular problems with poor conditions and several collisions - as well as Thanet and Dover. Check here for updates and advice before setting out.

Last night Whitstable was eerily quiet as the Christmas shopping launch was cancelled and streets were empty instead of being thronged with entertainers and shoppers.

Most shops in the town however had managed to open during the day.
